John "Jack" McClane, Jr. is the son of John McClane and Holly Gennero and the younger brother of Lucy McClane. He is seen very briefly in Die Hard as a young boy and was never seen again until the fourth sequel A Good Day to Die Hard, where he has now become an undercover CIA agent set to stop when a weapons-grade uranium heist by Russian terrorists.
Early Life[]
John "Jack" McClane, Jr. is John's son, born in 1984. He appears briefly in the first film as a young child, portrayed by Noah Land. In Live Free or Die Hard, Thomas Gabriel refers to him by the name "Jack" and he goes by his mother, Holly's, last name. Therefore, he is John Gennero or Jack Gennero. On February 22, 2012 it was announced that Jai Courtney would play on the role of John Jr. in the fifth Die Hard film.
Die Hard[]
Appears briefly as a John McClane, Jr., young child, portrayed by Noah Land. He briefly appeared in the scene with Lucy when she was playing with him in the kitchen when Lucy ran to get the phone, which happens to be their mother calling.
Live Free or Die Hard[]
John, Jr. is mentioned by Thomas Gabriel who refers to him by his familiar name "Jack," noting that he goes by his mother's last name. Thus, in this film, he is actually John "Jack" Gennero.
A Good Day to Die Hard[]
As Jack McClane, John, Jr. will be portrayed by Jai Courtney in the fourth sequel to Die Hard. Preliminary reports indicate that Courtney will co-star with Willis, therefore making this installment the first film in the series that will feature the character of John, Jr. in a major role. Jack will be introduced as John's estranged son - at odds with, but cut from the same cloth as his father.
Jack was at a Moscow nightclub and killed a man named Anton, who was revealed to be an associate of corrupt high-ranking Russian official Viktor Chagarin.
At the Russian prison, Jack makes a deal for a lighter sentence in exchange for his testimony on Komarov so he can get close to Komarov and save his life.
It is revealed that Jack is a CIA deep-cover agent on a three-year assignment on Russia to get evidence against Chagarin while getting government informant, Chagarin's ex-partner Yuri Komarov, to help to get evidence against Chagarin.
