Arthur Christopher Orme Plummer CC (born December 13, 1929) is an award-winning Canadian theatre, film and television actor perhaps best known for his roles in films such as The Sound of Music, The Man Who Would Be King (with Sean Connery) and The Insider. Other significant roles include The Fall of the Roman Empire, Battle of Britain, The Royal Hunt of the Sun, The Disappearance, Hanover Street (with Harrison Ford), Somewhere in Time, Eyewitness, Malcolm X (with Denzel Washington), 12 Monkeys (with Bruce Willis), A Beautiful Mind, National Treasure (with Nicolas Cage), Alexander, Syriana (with George Clooney), The Last Station and Beginners.
Plummer also has a daughter named Amanda who also is a successful actress and has recently recounted his years working at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival theatre where he worked with future pal and Star Trek VI co-star William Shatner.
